Lois Martha Iverson

and twin sister and brother, Martha and Marvin. She also had half-sisters, Mabel (Mrs. Oliver Eittreim) and Esther (Mrs. Harry Barrett) and has a half-brother, Erling Spencer (m. Marie Kastner). Anna was confirmed in 1932 at Decorah Lutheran Church and graduated from Decorah High School in 1936. She worked first at the Decorah Ice Cave Creamery as bookkeeper and treasurer. Next she worked at Smith Memorial Hospital in the 1950’s doing bookwork at night. After taking care of her mother 14 years she worked at Anthony's for 12 years as bookkeeper-clerk until her retirement.

Anna and Leonard lived on Oak St. their entire married life. They had one daughter, Lois Martha. Lois graduated from Decorah High School in 1966 and from Medical Institute of MN in 1967. She married Calvin Wendlandt and they have 2 children: Eric and Jason.

Anna’s father, Ole Rohm, was a fireman at the Decorah Post Office. Then he worked with Andrew Solheim as a painter and paperhanger and next with Stephen Bolson as a painter and paperhanger. Anna writes, “Dad died when we were 10 years old. Mother worked hard to raise us. She did housework and we children peddled bills (advertisements) for grocery stores. We walked from house to house all over Decorah. We had paper routes and also worked for our cousins, Martha Kjome and Dodie Nesheim. We raised chickens and goats and had a large garden. Sundays we would walk to the park after church for band concerts. All the children in our neighborhood would gather at our big tree for games (over 20 children!). Mother had a bad fall in 1947, then had several strokes. She needed care for 14 years. She died of a stroke Jun 1961.”

Leonard died 20 Dec 1988 and is buried at Decorah Lutheran Cemetery.

LeRoy and Jean Iverson moved to Decorah in June of 1994 from Glen Ellyn, IL upon LeRoy’s retirement as National Field Director for Dairy Inspection and Grading, United States Department of Agriculture. LeRoy had over 35 years of service with USDA.

Prior to the 5 years they lived in IL, they resided in Fayetteville, NY with their 3 sons: Eric LeRoy born in Hillsboro, Wl; Paul Edward born in Syracuse, NY and David Jens born in Syracuse. Eric LeRoy graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1981, received a B.A. degree in computer science from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in 1985. He has a Master’s in linguistics from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s in computer science from New Mexico State University. He is employed by the Oregon Graduate Institute, Hillsboro, OR. Paul Edward graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1984. He received a B.S. degree in cognitive science from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY in 1988. He received a doctorate degree in psychology from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in 1992. Paul is doing research in speech and hearing at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. David Jens graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1988. He received a B.S. degree in physics in 1992 from the University of Rochester, and a master’s in physics from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS in 1994. He is employed as a high school science teacher at Green Valley School, Waitsfield, VT

LeRoy married Jean Lovdokken 24 Feb 1962 in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Edina, MN. Jean was Northwest District Supervisor for University of Minnesota Agriculture Extension Service. LeRoy was a resident inspector for USDA, Dairy Inspection and Grading in Union Center, Wl. They resided in Elroy, Wl until September of 1963. LeRoy and Jean met in southwest Minnesota when Jean was a home agent for the Minnesota Agriculture Extension Service at Montevideo, MN and LeRoy was a resident inspector for USDA, Dairy Inspection and Grading in Clarkfield, MN.
